Most Talkative

I’m BACK! Summer has officially started and finals are over! I am so relieved, thrilled and overjoyed that I am no longer studying and dragging myself to class everyday. I also just finished the hilarious and extremely well-written book Most Talkative: Stories from the Front Lines of Pop Culture by Andy Cohen.

The nonfiction, dishy, sincere book takes readers through Cohen’s journey of how a gay, closeted kid from St. Louis who grew up an inch away from TV wound up making it big with his own late-night, interactive talk show, Watch What Happens Live. In case you don’t know, Andy is the man behind the ever-popular Real Housewives franchise. And yes, he does tell-all about everything Housewives, but the book is much more. Having spent ten years at CBS News, where he traveled the country and met various celebrities, Cohen discusses his fascinating career in a witty, hold-nothing back kind of way. Oh, and not to mention each chapter includes pics of Andy at various points in his life that will have you rolling on the floor laughing, especially pics from his long hair era.

Most Talkative is a must read for summer! It is full of heart, humor and Housewives!

Favorite Things – April

I am writing this post in shock…when did April 30th arrive?? I can hardly believe tomorrow is the start of May! This month I haven’t been able to test many new foods. I had a gum graft done and have been forced to eat soft foods for a majority of the month. However, I can assure you I am now an expert on low-sodium, non-spicy, crunchy-less products. All in the name of beauty I guess. Don’t worry, I did try some other items besides food that are great for spring! Enjoy my favorite things from April!

1. Nature’s Path Blueberry Cinnamon Flax Oatmeal – Delicious, filling and organic, this oatmeal makes for the perfect start to any day.

2. BCBGENERATION Ruffled Collar Dress – This breezy and lightweight dress is great for any occasion and very affordable, under $100. I do think the dress run a little big, though, so you might consider ordering the next size down.

3. Special K Chocolately Delight Cereal – A low-calorie, sinfully sweet cereal that won’t leave you feeling guilty.

4. Mad Men – My absolute obsession this month! I am watching all the past seasons on Netflix, literally hours a day. WARNING: if you have not seen this series, you must watch. But be warned, you will be hooked. Say goodbye to your friends and family, because Donald Draper and Roger Sterling will be your new BFs!

5. Green Mountain Hazelnut Iced Coffee K-Cups – This cold brew, iced coffee is a refreshing drink in hot and sunny weather.

6. Bath & Body Works Pink Chiffon Lotion – Light, airy and feminine, Pink Chiffon is the must-have scent for spring!

Sunday Brunch at Eddie Merlot’s

Happy Easter! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter Sunday. Here in Columbus, the weather is absolutely beautiful, sunny and warm. After a morning full of delicious food and family, I am now laying around digesting, watching The Masters with Jon’s family in my “I’m feeling huge” outfit.

Let me take you back to this morning so you can understand why I am unable to move…

After starting the morning early with a breakfast buffet hosted by my mom, Jon and I met up with his family for our second meal at Eddie Merlot’s. It was our first time eating at the popular steakhouse so we were both very excited to join.

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! Decorated in warm yellows and golds, and filled with eye-catching architectural details, Eddie Merlot’s interior is very lavish and romantic. It evokes a sort of art-deco type feel with its unique lighting fixtures and art. Definitely a must for an anniversary or date-night dinner.

As for the heart of the visit, the food, it was simply superb. The buffet featured everything you could possibly want and desire. All the breakfast essentials and traditional Easter dishes were on the menu. These included: egg frittatas, made-to-order omelets, breakfast meats, potatoes, fresh fruit, pastries, ham, beef tenderloin, macaroni and cheese, flavorful salads, creamed corn, garlic mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables, and the list goes on and on. Am I making you hungry yet??

Best of all, the desserts were a work of art. My favorites were the mini red velvet cupcakes and cooked-to-order bananas foster! Pure bliss! In case those were not enough, carrot cake, chocolate and coconut covered strawberries and chocolate cupcakes were also in attendance.

Since it’s a holiday, calories don’t count today!

For a memorable experience, make a reservation at Eddie Merlot’s for your next event. You will fall in love with the food and staff!

The Queen of Mean

I typically dread Sundays…they mark the closing of another weekend, they are days filled with homework and days when professors choose to send lengthy e-mails. Nothing like seeing Jones (generic last name) on my phone that reminds me I have yet another week of listening to personal, financial problems and outdated stories of my profs. Lucky me! However, all that gloominess has recently changed when I was introduced to “The Queen of Mean” at 9 p.m on NBC.

Still unsure as to who I’m talking about? None other than insult comic…..Lisa Lampanelli!!

One of my favorite shows, although I have way too many (insert Jon rolling his eyes), is Celebrity Apprentice. I started tuning in to watch Teresa Giudice, hopefully flip the boardroom table, but sharp, biting comments intervened and Lisa Lampanelli became my new obsession.

I laugh, I cry, I get frustrated, more than a therapy session could accomplish, in the two hours I spend pretending Lisa Lampanelli is my bff. Not only are her descriptions of cast mates character traits and work ethics dead on, Lampanelli is spot on with her impersonations. I literally have stomach pains from laughing so hard!

My personal favorite Lampanelli line from last night’s episode was in the preview at the end when she told Lou Ferrigno “I do the job and you do not so get ready for an elevator ride…LOU.” You tell him who’s boss!

Aside from her personality that draws me in, Lisa Lampanelli is an extremely hard worker and strong player on Celebrity Apprentice. She in constantly coming up with creative ideas and focusing on the task at hand, without complaining or having a bad attitude.

On a side note, Lampanelli is bff’s with Bethenny…I’m still waiting on my invite to join their group! Until then, I will continue tuning in to watch Lampanelli take on cast mates and destroy them with her fierce one-liners. Team Lisa!
