This is a delicious comfort food that is super simple to prepare! I made this last night for Jon and Jake, both facing dreaded finals week, and it was delicious. This dish is very versatile and can be made with virtually any type of pasta, meat and veggie.


1 Box Rotini Pasta

1 1/2 Lbs Ground Turkey (I used 97% lean)

1 Tbs Olive Oil

2 Cloves Garlic

1 Tbs Italian Seasoning

1/2 Chopped Onion

1 Tsp salt

1 Tsp pepper

1 Jar Favorite Pasta Sauce (I used Tomato & Basil)

1 1/2 Cups Shredded Fat-Free Mozzarella Chesse


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large pan, boil water for pasta.

Meanwhile, heat pan on medium heat and saute olive oil, onion, salt and pepper. Cook onion until soft (4-5 minutes) and add in minced garlic. Cook another 1-2 minutes. Add in ground turkey and break apart with a wooden spoon. Stir in your favorite Italian seasoning and brown meat until fully cooked (6-7 minutes).

While meat is browning, add in 1 box of rotini pasta noodles to boiling water and let cook 6 minutes. The box called for 8 minutes but since I finished the dish in the oven, I cooked them a little less.

Drain noodles. Drain off any fat from meat. Combine meat, noodles and 1 cup pasta sauce. Mix together.

Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and pour in half of the pasta mixture. Top that layer with 1/2 cup cheese and 1/2 cup pasta sauce. Add remaining pasta and top with remaining pasta sauce and 1 cup cheese. Bake 20 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
