Last night Jon and I ventured out in the freezing Columbus weather and headed down to the Short North. We went to one of our favorite bars, Betty’s Fine Food & Spirits.
Betty’s atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Pictures of pin-ups girls line the walls and cover about every square inch of space, creating a very kitschy feel. The restaurant is set up length wise. On one wall, a bar runs the length of the restaurant and a handful of high-tables with bar stools line the other. Be prepared to wait on a weekend night though, especially gallery hop nights, because seating is minimal. But do not be discouraged, the food is definitely worth the wait!
Jon and I both got the Surly Girl Turkey Wrap. The wrap is filled with warm turkey, dried cranberry’s, crunchy lettuce, pecans and melted Gorgonzola cheese. Then, the whole thing is drizzled with a sweet balsamic vinaigrette! Mmm…SO YUMMY! All sandwiches come with your choice of side, some of my favorites are the: skillet corn, chips and salsa, broccoli and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. You can not go wrong with any of those options! Last night I got the broccoli and cheese and it was so warm and gooey that I could not help but eat the whole thing, although Jon stole a few pieces!
Betty’s menu is comfort food with a twist. You can get classic dishes, such as Marge’s Meatloaf and Fried Chicken, to more gourmet items such as Pumpkin Chilli and Artichoke and Gorgonzola Pasta. The food is absolutely delicious! Jon and I have always had a great meal and fast service, even on very busy nights!Photo Credit: Columbus Alive
